Anexia, a privately owned IT service provider headquartered in Austria, was founded in 2006 and employs approximately 180 people. The company specializes in offering individual cloud and managed hosting solutions, alongside custom software and app development, and operates its own independent data centers.
Anexia CEO Alexander Windbichler recently discussed the profound changes brought about by AI in a February 23, 2026 interview with Kleine Zeitung, stressing the immediate need for companies and employees to act. Previously, on January 20, 2026, Windbichler offered clear criticism of Amazon Web Services’ "European Sovereign Cloud" in a report by Der Standard, asserting that true control stems from ownership, software sovereignty, and technical decision-making power rather than local staff. This followed Anexia and netcup welcoming the European Declaration on Digital Sovereignty on November 18, 2025. Earlier, on October 24, 2025, Anexia won the Primus Award 2025 in the "International Performance" category. The jury recognized the Carinthian technology company for its international successes, consistent focus on technological independence, and contribution to Europe’s digital sovereignty.
