Anglian Water Services, a privately owned company headquartered in the UK, employing approximately 3500 individuals, primarily provides utilities, specializing in supplying water and water recycling services to over six million domestic and business customers across the east of England and Hartlepool. The company cleans and delivers water to homes and manages water resources. It operates as a water and water recycling company by geographic area in England and Wales. Operating in one of the driest regions of the UK, with an average annual rainfall of 600 millimetres, the company focuses on water resource management.
Anglian Water stated on June 26, 2026, it would not implement a hosepipe ban, despite urging customers to conserve water. The company reported secure water resources even after the warmest June on record and a very dry spring, which left some sources in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire at below-normal levels. This announcement followed June 25, 2026, statements from South Holland council chiefs, who indicated that new housing developments would proceed in areas where Anglian Water had raised concerns about insufficient water infrastructure capacity. Earlier the same day, a senior manager for Anglian Water revealed the company faced significant pressure from local and national government to support large-scale infrastructure projects, including data centers and solar farms, which are increasing water demand. Also on June 25, the Environment Agency secured an Enforcement Undertaking from Anglian Water Services, requiring £275,000 to be directed towards environmental improvement projects across Lincolnshire, following two permit breaches and an illegal discharge from its sites.
