Residents near a proposed £2.6 billion reservoir in Lincolnshire criticized Anglian Water on April 3, citing a lack of information as planning for the scheme advances. The project would inundate approximately five square kilometers near Scredington, potentially displacing 15 homes and farms. Previously, on April 2, newly-formed local Environment Agency water industry regulation teams identified 830 required actions across Anglian Water’s wastewater network. These actions stem from nearly 1,800 inspections conducted over a two-year period, utilizing drone surveys to ensure compliance with operating permits. This followed an April 1 statement from a landowner, Hannah Thorogood, who described being in an "untenable" limbo regarding the same Lincolnshire reservoir plan, which remains years from a final decision. Anglian Water was scheduled to provide an update on the scheme to Lincolnshire County Council on April 2. On April 1, Anglian Water also announced its largest ever single year of investment, committing £1.6 billion for improvements and maintenance across the East of England’s water and sewerage infrastructure, effective from April. Earlier on April 1, the company stated it reduced sewage outflows in its area by over 80% and storm outflows by 60% last year, despite still dumping nearly 36 days' worth of sewage into South Holland’s waterways.
