News Summary:

On February 19, 2026, Arcep supported the "Bichet Act," which entrusts the print media industry’s interprofessional organization with establishing rules for press title assortment and determining quantities displayed at points of sale for non-political or general news publications registered with France’s Joint Commission for Press Publications and Agencies (CPPAP). This initiative aims to make the newsagent profession more attractive and better satisfy customer expectations regarding press selection. Previously, Arcep created a scorecard in July 2023 to assess the impact of sector efforts to improve the quality of fibre to the home (FttH) networks, recognizing the importance of ensuring network operation, as noted on February 18, 2026. Earlier, on February 17, 2026, the French telecom authority launched two new public consultations related to cloud hosting services, supporting its mission to remove potential barriers to switching providers and adopting a multi-cloud environment. This follows a recommendation submitted to the French government last year to eliminate data transfer (egress) fees when the switching process involves non-multi-cloud services.
