News Summary:

On December 17, 2025, Arizona PBS (KAET) announced it will cease broadcasting NewsHour West after Arizona State University (ASU) declined to renew its contract for the bureau, which operates under ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Previously, on October 16, 2025, Arizona PBS partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Health Choice to expand access to parenting and family resources in Pinal County, a collaboration supported by a $25,000 donation from Blue Cross Blue Shield that enables the station’s Educational Outreach team to distribute Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) resources. This partnership followed an August 13, 2025, request by the president of the Arizona state senate for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to investigate Arizona’s PBS station (KAET) for alleged "viewpoint discrimination" over claims it improperly influenced the state's contentious 2022 governor's race.
