Asian Handball Federation, also known as AHF, is a privately owned entity headquartered in Iran. Founded in 1974, it functions as a tier 1 media tech buyer. The organization serves as the governing body for handball and beach handball across Asia, encompassing 44 member countries. Its membership primarily includes nations on the Asian continent, specifically excluding transcontinental countries such as Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russian Federation, and Turkey, which are affiliated with the European Handball Federation (EHF). Other states on Asia's western fringe, including Cyprus, Armenia, and Israel, are also EHF members. Notably, Hong Kong China and Macau, despite not being independent countries, maintain membership with the AHF.
On May 1, 2026, the Asian Handball Federation marked both the 8th IHF International Handball Week and the 6th International Beach Handball Day. Previously, on April 19, the federation held an IHF A-License Coaching Course. This followed its invitation issued on April 2 to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan for the Men’s IHF Trophy – Central Asia Zone III. Earlier, on March 17, the federation invited Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Yemen.
