Its membership excludes several transcontinental nations (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Turkey) and those on Asia's western edge (Cyprus, Armenia, and Israel), which belong to the European Handball Federation. Hong Kong and Macau, while special administrative regions of China, are also AHF members.
