News Summary:

Bayer 04 Leverkusen loaned Alfa-Ruprecht to Hertha Berlin on August 20, 2026. Ruprecht, previously on loan at Bundesliga 2 side VfL Bochum in the 2025/26 campaign, has a contract with Leverkusen until June 30, 2030, with managing director sport Simon Rolfes noting his progress at Bochum. Earlier, on August 11, the club signed Argentine World Cup runner-up Facundo Medina from Marseille. Rolfes stated Medina is an experienced professional whose quality and strong mentality would immediately make him a key player. Following his signing, Medina gave an interview to Werkself.tv, discussing his first impressions, expectations, and conversations with Argentine compatriot Exequiel Palacios. On August 8, Bayer 04 committed to continuity, extending the contracts of Fernando Carro and Simon Rolfes ahead of schedule. Werner Wenning, Chair of the Bayer 04 Shareholders’ Committee, praised their outstanding work in developing the club, leading to its greatest sporting successes and sustainable growth. This followed the July 23 announcement that s2-Software would remain the Bayer 04 Women’s team sleeve sponsor, extending their partnership, a development welcomed by Women’s Football Manager Linda Schöttler.
