Beeld & Geluid, a non-profit organization headquartered in the Netherlands, was founded in 1997 and employs approximately 340 individuals. The organization functions as a Dutch audio-visual archive, with its main product encompassing museums, historical sites, and zoos.
On February 2, 2026, Beeld & Geluid initiated the Heritage for the Future (HEFT) project, leading a broad consortium of makers and institutions to ensure the future preservation of immersive media. Previously, on January 21, NH Media and Omroep West became the first regional broadcasters to begin structurally and sustainably archiving their television broadcasts at Beeld & Geluid. This move launched the Foundation for Regional Public Broadcasting's (RPO) 'Sustainable Archiving' project, designed to centrally secure the digital archives of all regional broadcasters. This followed the opening of the "And Then There Was Image" exhibition on January 20, which commemorates 75 years of television in the Netherlands by exploring its introduction into living rooms. Earlier, on January 18, Beeld & Geluid hosted the Media Match Hackathon for Education, focusing on developing concrete teaching materials for secondary education by utilizing its media, integrating audio and video skills, and leveraging AI. On January 16, Beeld & Geluid acquired the archive of the Dutch Game Garden into its collection.
