Beximco Group, a privately owned company founded in Bangladesh in 1972, employs approximately 470 people. Its headquarters are located in Bangladesh. The company's business activities span diverse sectors, encompassing textiles, pharmaceuticals, personal protective equipment (PPE), ceramics, real estate development and construction, trading, seafood, information and communication technologies, media, direct-to-home (DTH) television services, financial services, and energy. While its executive offices are a key component, the company's operations extend far beyond this single area.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) filed a case on an unspecified date against Beximco Group Chairman Ahmed Sohail Fasihur Rahman, Vice-Chairman Salman F Rahman, CEO Shayan F Rahman, and 22 others, alleging embezzlement of over Tk 568 crore. A separate BTRC case, also on an unspecified date, targeted Vice-Chairman Salman F Rahman, his son Shayan F Rahman, and other International Gateway (IGW) Forum members for alleged misappropriation of funds. On an unspecified date, the government allowed Nassa Group to reschedule defaulted loans, but the reopening of Beximco's textile units remains uncertain due to Janata Bank's refusal to reschedule Tk 23,000 crore in defaulted loans without a down payment. The securities regulator launched an investigation on an unspecified date into allegations of stock price manipulation and potential money laundering involving companies and individuals linked to Salman F Rahman. Finally, the securities regulator formed probe committees on an unspecified date to investigate the use of funds raised by Beximco through bonds in 2021 and 2024, including Tk 30 billion raised via Beximco Green Sukuk bonds in 2021.
