The Big South Conference, a privately owned collegiate athletic conference founded in 1983, is a Division I member of the NCAA. Headquartered in the United States and employing approximately 30 people, the conference primarily organizes spectator sports. Initially without football, it added football in 2002 at the FCS level. In 2023, it launched a football association with the Ohio Valley Conference. Its member institutions are primarily located in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, with associate members in Georgia and South Carolina.
