Big South Conference, a privately owned entity headquartered in the United States, was founded in 1983 and employs approximately 30 individuals. Its main product is spectator sports. The company functions as a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I. Initially a non-football conference, the Big South began sponsoring football in 2002 as part of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). In 2023, it commenced operating the Big South–OVC Football Association in partnership with the Ohio Valley Conference. The conference is rooted in the South Atlantic region of the United States, with full member institutions situated in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and associate members located in Georgia and South Carolina.
