The Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) is a German state-owned regulatory agency established in 1998. Its headquarters are located in Germany. The agency's responsibilities encompass the regulation of the electricity, gas, telecommunications, postal, and railway markets within the country.
The Federal Network Agency recorded 457 hours of negative wholesale electricity prices in Germany during 2024, an increase from 301 hours in 2023. In August 2025, Germany added 1.95 GW of solar power, bringing the total for the first eight months of the year to 10.8 GW. Separate figures from the agency show 195 GW of new photovoltaic capacity were installed in August 2025, compared to 1.4 GW in July 2022 and 790 MW in August 2024. The agency also reported that North Rhine-Westphalia surpassed Bavaria in the number of public charging points. Finally, the Federal Network Agency extended the trust management period for Rosneft Deutschland's German subsidiaries by six months, to March 10, 2026.
