Camptocamp, a privately owned company headquartered in Switzerland, was founded in 2001 and operates with an estimated 160 employees, specializing in IT services and IT consulting. The company focuses on the software implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), business management (ERP), and IT infrastructure management, in addition to providing expertise in the provision and renewal of licenses.
GeoServer 3.0-RC became available on April 20, 2026, marking the concrete outcome of a successful community crowdfunding campaign launched in September 2024. Earlier in April, Camptocamp continued its support for the Agence du Numérique de la Sécurité Civile (ANSC) since 2019, developing the NexSIS information system for firefighters and civil security, which is now in production in 20 Fire and Rescue Services. On March 11, the company highlighted Cesium ion’s role in powering its Geo Challenge game, which utilizes high-precision datasets including swisstopo’s high-resolution topographic data for Switzerland and Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles for France and Germany. This followed the company’s February 19 detailing of the Geo Challenge as a side project designed to showcase complex technical expertise by having users guess their location in a 3D landscape. On February 25, Camptocamp expressed its conviction that artificial intelligence does not make design obsolete but strengthens collective intelligence, addressing AI's impact on digital product development.
