Catalunya Ràdio SRG, SA, a privately owned broadcast media production and distribution company, was founded in Spain in 1983. Its stated initial purpose was to promote Catalan language and culture. The company operates four radio channels: Catalunya Ràdio (its flagship news channel), Catalunya Música (classical and contemporary music), iCat FM (a newer channel replacing Catalunya Cultura), and a 24-hour news channel. To produce its programming, totaling over 35,000 hours annually, Catalunya Ràdio employs approximately 410 people, including both full-time staff and collaborators.
