The Charlotte Hornets, a privately owned professional basketball team founded in 2004, are based in the United States. They compete in the NBA's Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. The organization employs approximately 520 people. Their primary business is providing spectator sports entertainment.
On Thursday, the Hornets signed free agent forward Keyontae Johnson, after waiving DaQuan Jeffries earlier that day. Jeffries' three-year contract, while signed through the 2026-27 season, was non-guaranteed for this season and next. Johnson's signing was likely an Exhibit 10 contract. The Hornets also signed Johnson to an Exhibit 10 deal; he will attend training camp on a non-guaranteed contract and is expected to join the Greensboro Swarm of the G League after the preseason. On Friday, the Hornets announced the signing of Brandon Slater, who averaged 7.4 points and 3.0 rebounds playing with GS Lavrio in the Greek League last year and 5.8 points and 2.9 rebounds during Summer League with the Hornets. Later, the Hornets waived Slater and signed guard Marcus Garrett to an Exhibit 10 deal. Both Slater and Garrett will likely join the Greensboro Swarm. The Hornets also waived Keyontae Johnson, who is expected to join the Greensboro Swarm. Charles Lee reported that LaMelo Ball has been building strength and shows "clear growth" on defense.
