Privately owned Chronos Technology, headquartered in the UK, was founded in 1986 and operates with approximately 70 employees, reporting $22.8M in revenue as of 2023. The company specializes in telecoms, providing solutions in synchronisation and timing systems, smart technologies, GNSS, and cyber security for critical national infrastructure.
Chronos Technology is scheduled to participate in DPRTE 2026 on March 25-26, 2026, in Farnborough, where it plans to discuss resilient Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions at the UK's premier defence procurement and supply chain engagement event. This follows a transparency notice published by the UK Department for Science Innovation & Technology on January 14, 2026, for the procurement of fully functioning prototype eLoran Timing Receivers from Chronos Technology. Earlier, on December 2, 2025, Chronos partner Microchip announced the release of its TimeProvider 4500 v3 grandmaster clock. This system aims to deliver sub-nanosecond accuracy for time distribution across 800 km optical transmission networks without Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) reliance, offering critical infrastructure operators a terrestrial timing solution to enhance resilience and reliability.
