City St George's, University of London is a publicly owned institution headquartered in the United Kingdom. A public research university based in London, England, and a member institution of the University of London, it was founded in 1894 as the Northampton Institute. The institution, which employs approximately 7,040 individuals, officially became a university when the City University was created by royal charter in 1966. Its history also includes the Inns of Court School of Law, established in 1852, which merged with City in 2001.
