On August 27, 2026, LaSalle acquired a stake in the CityWest Office Campus located in Houston. Previously, on August 26, CityWest, a British Columbia-based telecommunications company, outlined plans to construct a new fiber route along Highway 37. The company aims to bolster network resiliency and protect Northern B.C. connectivity, citing recent outages in the area as a primary reason for the new route, which it announced earlier on August 24. This follows an August 21 announcement detailing plans for the new transport fibre route to reduce disruptions caused by damage to telecom infrastructure. On August 11, CityWest experienced a service outage affecting customers from Prince George heading west, which it identified as a fibre cut and attempted copper theft on a third-party carrier’s network in Alberta carrying CityWest’s long-distance traffic.
