Claro Ecuador, also known as Consorcio Ecuatoriano de Telecomunicaciones S.A. and Conecel, is a privately owned company headquartered in Ecuador. Founded in 2011, it employs approximately 4,250 individuals and reported $1.0B in revenue as of 2025. Operating as a tier 2 media tech buyer, the company functions as a telecommunications provider and is a subsidiary of Claro and América Móvil, specializing in telecoms.
Claro Ecuador reported a 9.0 percent year-on-year rise in revenue to USD 280 million in the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong handset sales and a 2.7 percent increase in service revenue to USD 234 million, reflecting a recovery in prepaid mobile income. Previously, on April 22, 2026, the company recorded a 2.2 percent year-on-year increase in revenues to USD 260 million for the first quarter of 2026. This growth stemmed mainly from gains in the postpay and fibre broadband segments, coupled with a 6.3 percent rise in device sales, as service revenues climbed 2.1 percent to USD 228 million. Earlier, on March 17, 2026, Claro Ecuador announced a USD 600 million investment plan over the next three years to strengthen infrastructure, expand coverage, and advance next-generation technologies. América Móvil CEO Daniel Hajj confirmed this commitment after a meeting with President Daniel Noboa, following an agreement with Tigo (Millicom) at the end of the previous year to extend their spectrum concessions until 2038. In the final quarter of 2025, on February 11, Claro Ecuador's revenue reached USD 271 million, a 1.2 percent year-on-year decrease attributed to an extraordinary increase in prepaid revenue resulting from power outages a year earlier.
