Club Deportivo Cuenca, a privately owned entity headquartered in Ecuador, was founded in 1971 and operates with approximately 50 employees, specializing in sports tickets, merchandise, and sponsorship. The club is an Ecuadorian football club based in Cuenca, actively competing in the Serie A, the top-flight football league in the country. It holds the distinction of being one of two clubs from Cuenca to have played in the top-flight and one of three clubs outside the main cities of Quito and Guayaquil to have secured a national championship, which it won in 2004. Since then, the club has maintained a consistent presence among the top clubs in the country, with numerous participations in the Copa Libertadores. Founded on March 4, 1971, Deportivo Cuenca is the second-oldest club in the city after Tecni Club. Its home stadium is Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar, named after a former club president and mayor of Cuenca. Due to the limited number of clubs from the Province of Azuay that have played in the Serie A, Deportivo Cuenca does not have major local rivals.
