Coastal Carolina University (CCU) is a public, state-owned university located in Conway, South Carolina. Established in 1954 as Coastal Carolina Junior College, the institution later affiliated with the University of South Carolina System. It gained independence as a separate university in 1993. Currently, CCU employs approximately 3,180 people.
