Corona, a privately owned Egyptian confectionery manufacturer founded in 1919, employs approximately 1150 people and is headquartered in Egypt. Initially operating in Ismailia before moving to Alexandria, the company was nationalized in 1963, merging with Nadler Confectionery and Al Hawamdiya Factory to become the Alexandria Chocolate and Confectionery Co. It remained under state control until 2000, when it was privatized and acquired by the Sami Saad Group as part of broader Egyptian economic reforms.
