Disney Studios Australia, a privately owned entity headquartered in Australia, was founded in 1998 and employs approximately 40 individuals. Functioning as a provider of facilities services, the company operates as a fully integrated film and television production centre and media ecosystem, positioned as the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The studio occupies a 32-acre site featuring purpose-built studios, heritage buildings, and backlot areas for exterior filming. Its world-class facility is designed to cater to various scales of film and TV production, housing 9 sound stages, including an interior tank, ranging in size from 208 to 4,000 sqm (2,236 to 42,000 sqft) for a total of approximately 15,000 sqm (160,000 sqft). These stages are equipped to industry standard with air conditioning, soundproofing, lighting grids, and large access doors. Supporting these stages are production offices, construction workshops, art and costume craftshops, make-up and dressing rooms, storage, screening theatres, parking, and 24-hour security. The facility also hosts a community of independent businesses offering a high-tech portfolio of services including production services, lighting, camera, textiles and costume hire, casting, props, special effects, editing, animation, visual effects, music and sound post production, travel, freight, marketing, and events.
