Duke Kunshan University, also known as DKU, is a non-profit institution headquartered in China. Founded in 2013, it operates as a Sino-American partnership between Duke University and Wuhan University. The university was established to create a liberal arts and research university, offering a global approach to higher education that prepares students for roles in shaping tomorrow’s world. Its mission is to enable students from around the world to lead purposeful and productive lives by delivering undergraduate and graduate education that is interdisciplinary, preparing them for professional, intellectual, and societal leadership roles across the globe. The university's 200-acre campus is situated in the Yangtze River Delta region, a developed area in China. The city of Kunshan serves as a center for business and high-tech research and manufacturing, and is considered a model for China’s social and economic development. Kunshan is located in proximity to Shanghai and Suzhou, with connections by high-speed rail and highways.
