electric.friends is a privately owned Norwegian company. Founded in 2013, the company has approximately 10 employees. Specializing in media production, electric.friends is primarily known for its robotic solution, which focuses on design and blends into the overall studio aesthetic.
electric.friends is currently hiring robotics engineers for camera robotics software development and plans to exhibit at IBC 2026. This follows the BBC's January 13, 2026, unveiling of its modernized Studio B, which integrates new design elements, tracks, and automation, featuring electric.friends robotics. Previously, on November 6, 2025, electric.friends announced its participation in Hamburg Open on January 14-15, where it intended to showcase robotic and AI solutions, including AI-driven PTZ camera control, noting the broadcast robotic industry's shift from vertically integrated systems to horizontal layers with specialized products. In August 2025, electric.friends also prepared to demonstrate its vendor-agnostic robot control system at IBC, which supports various robot and camera hardware, aligning with its view of the industry's move towards open robotic control.
