Engie, also known as ENGIE SA, is a publicly owned company headquartered in France. Founded in 2008 and employing approximately 47,580 individuals, the company primarily operates as a provider of low-carbon energy, with utilities as its main product.
On April 4, 2026, ENGIE subsidiary Elengy appointed Tractebel to assist with its SORBET and NOEMIC2 projects, which aim to significantly reduce CO2 emissions during prolonged shutdowns of the Fos Cavaou liquid natural gas (LNG) terminal in France. Previously, on April 2, Engie was highlighted following a 900 MW wind power agreement in Egypt with partners and senior leadership moves within its renewables and power networks businesses. On the same day, Engie signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Egypt’s state-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to develop a 900 MW onshore wind farm near Ras Shokeir, operating under a 25-year build-own-operate model. Earlier on April 2, Engie, in a joint venture with La Caisse, approved a £300 million investment for the next phase of a £1 billion program for Dinorwig and Ffestiniog pumped storage hydro stations in Gwynedd.
