Equinix opened its first International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Chennai, India (CN1), on September 20. This facility, located in Siruseri, Tamil Nadu, represents an initial investment of USD 69 million, with plans for future expansion. The data center, described as AI-ready, was officially launched on September 20 with an outlay of Rs 574 crore; Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin performed the inauguration ceremony. The Chennai facility will interconnect with Equinix’s Mumbai campus, which includes three IBX data centers.
