ETH Zurich launched its first dedicated program for AI spin-offs, the AI Foundry, on October 2, 2026. This initiative supports AI start-up teams with connections to faculty research and activities from the ETH AI Center, providing access to compute resources such as Alps (CSCS) and Euler. Previously, on October 1, 2026, Thomas Zurbuchen departed ETH Zurich to join Blue Origin, concluding his three-year limited position at the institution. Also on October 1, 2026, the university announced plans to expand its building space to accommodate teaching, the library, and computer science. This expansion addresses a significant growth disparity, as the number of students and staff climbed by 58 percent between 2010 and 2025, while available floor space increased by only 21 percent.
