ETH Zurich lists the following departments: Architecture, Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, Biosystems Science and Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Materials, and MAVT. In mid-2015, researchers began developing a perfusion machine as part of the Liver4Life project to extend the preservation time of donor livers for transplantation from 24 hours to up to a week. In 2003, ETH Zurich offered a professorship to Hagner, who previously studied medicine and philosophy, worked as a neurophysiologist, and held positions at Medical University Lübeck, the University of Göttingen, and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
