Finnish Ice Hockey Association

Finnish Ice Hockey Association, also known as Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto and Finlands Ishockeyförbund, is a state-owned entity headquartered in Finland, founded in 1929 and operating with approximately 180 employees. The association functions as the national governing body for ice hockey in Finland and is a member and representative of the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation). All domestic competitive series operate under its purview, with the exception of men’s Liiga, which is a separate organization. Together with clubs, the Finnish Ice Hockey Association is responsible for growing and developing the game at all levels, overseeing approximately 70,000 registered players and 40,000 official games played yearly. It oversees Finnish Ice Hockey from entry-level to high-performance teams and competitions, including National Teams participating in World Championship events and the Olympic Winter Games. While its headquarters are located in Helsinki, the organization operates across eight regional districts covering the entire country.
