Fordham University is a privately owned Jesuit research university located in New York City. Founded in 1841 and named for the Bronx neighborhood where its original campus resides, it holds the distinction of being the oldest Catholic and Jesuit university in the northeastern United States and the third-oldest in New York State. The university currently employs approximately 5,510 people.
