Georgian Public Broadcasting (GPB), also known as the Public Broadcaster, is a state-owned media organization headquartered in Georgia. Founded in 2004 through the adoption of a new broadcasting law, GPB's origins trace back to 1925 with the launch of radio broadcasts and 1956 with the commencement of television broadcasts. Currently employing approximately 260 people, GPB operates television and radio services. Its First Channel reaches 85% of the Georgian population, while its Second Channel reaches 55%. GPB programming is also accessible via satellite and internet in several European and Asian countries. The 2004 law marked a transition from a state broadcaster to a public broadcaster model.
