Norway-England World Cup game boosts Telia mobile traffic, TV 2 puts audience at nearly 2 mln

Telia Norway said the quarter final match in the FIFA World Cup men's football tournament between the national and England teams on 11 July caused a 26 percent rise in mobile data traffic and a 70 percent surge in SMS traffic compared with the same day a week earlier. Broadcaster TV 2 said almost 2 million viewers watched at least some of the game and more than 1.63 million saw the entire match. Statistics Norway calculates the current Norwegian population at 5.63 million.

Telia Norway to provide television and streaming services to 7,500 Modum Kabel-TV customers

Telia Norway said it will start providing television and video streaming services to Modum Kabel-TV, based in the town of Modum in the county of Buskerud. Their agreement will make Telia's TV and Telia Play streaming available to the local operator's 7,500 or so customers in Modum, Sigdal, Kroedsherad, Nakkerud and Tyristrand. Modum Kabel-TV CEO Sindre Andersen said its subscribers increasingly want more flexibility and easier access to streaming, and Telia Play provides exactly that.

Telia wins contract from Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research

Telia Norway said it has won the primary contract in a procurement round by the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (SIKT). The operator will supply telephony and associated services to universities, college campuses and research institutions nationwide. The deal includes 20,000 mobile subscriptions, mobile broadband services and around 85,000 landline numbers. It has a duration of one year with a 1+1+1 year extension option.

Telia Norway Q1 fixed service revenue improves after consumer ops overhaul takes effect

Telia Norway has reported a like-for-like fall in revenue of 1.6 percent in the first quarter compared with a year earlier as equipment sales fell. Fixed service revenue was up by 4.4 percent, largely after pricing adjustments for broadband and television services. Telia continues carrying out its Norwegian turnaround plan. The reorganisation in June 2025 supported higher fixed consumer business revenue in Q1 and it is on track to hit its 2026 fibre deployment targets.

Telia Norway stops over 8 mln scam calls to mobile lines in Q1

Telia Norway said it prevented 8.4 million fraudulent calls from reaching Norwegian mobile customers in the first three months of 2026. It estimates that this may have averted losses of around NOK 250 million. Telia added that there has been an increase in targeted fraud attempts via SMS. This is called "spearfishing" and is a type of phishing attack aimed at specific people or businesses, aiming to steal sensitive information or install malware.
