GlobalConnect is a privately owned company headquartered in Sweden, employing approximately 2,050 individuals. The company operates as a telecom provider across the Nordics and Germany.
GlobalConnect's EQT-backed Swedish fiber business was reportedly nearing a deal to be sold to Vauban Infrastructure Partners for approximately €2 billion ($2.3 billion) on September 10, 2026, according to people familiar with the matter. Previously, on August 25, GlobalConnect agreed to transfer approximately 6,000 fiber customers in Northern and Eastern Norway to Telia Norway. This customer transfer is a condition related to Telenor's acquisition of GlobalConnect's Norwegian residential customer business and awaits approval from the Norwegian Competition Authority, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Earlier, on July 13, infrastructure vendor Eltel secured an estimated €13 million three-year contract from GlobalConnect for complete fiber installations in residential properties, including housing associations, homeowners' associations, terraced housing, apartment buildings, and new-build projects across Denmark, with work already underway.
