GoNetspeed customers in Newport were scheduled to connect to the company's fiber network on Wednesday, August 20. On that day, Heidi Mahoney, GoNetspeed’s manager of government affairs, briefed the City Council on the fiber-to-the-premises build, which advances in partnership with Rhode Island Commerce through the ConnectRI program. Concurrently, GoNetspeed began network construction in Parlin, New Jersey, a development that followed the company's August 19 announcement. The announcement detailed the official start of a $4.5 million fiber expansion in Parlin, an investment set to deliver its symmetrical 100% fiber-optic network to more than 3,100 homes and businesses.
