Grupo Chaski, also known as Grupo Chaski - Asociación Peruana Audiovisual, is a Peruvian non-profit civil association, non-governmental organisation, and filmmaking collective headquartered in the Chorrillos District of Lima. Founded in 1982 by Swiss filmmaker Stefan Kaspar alongside Uruguayan director Alejandro Legaspi and Peruvian media professionals Fernando Espinoza, María Barea, and Fernando Barreto, the collective operates with approximately 20 employees. The organisation's activities include managing entertainment content rights, using audiovisual media as a mechanism for cultural development, education, and social inclusion, specifically documenting systemic oppression, marginalisation, and migration within Peru. It was established to practice a socially conscious cinema aligned with the New Latin American Cinema movement. Its historic filmography includes the feature-length urban realism dramas Gregorio (1984) and Juliana (1988), alongside short documentaries such as Miss Universo en el Perú (1982) and Caminos de liberación (1985). Funded through international grants, institutional public commissions, and private donations, the association has shifted its contemporary operations toward community-based public training and decentralized distribution networks.
