Originally founded in 1936 by Michael Redstone as the Northeast Theater Corporation, the company employs approximately 23,000 individuals. Following its acquisition on August 7, 2025, by investor groups led by David Ellison's family and RedBird Capital Partners, the reorganized corporation functions as the primary top-tier holding vehicle for the Ellison family's media interests, holding 100 percent of the voting Class A common stock and operational control of the multinational entertainment, streaming, and broadcasting conglomerate Paramount Skydance Corporation.
