Houston City College, also known as HCC and the Houston City College System (HCCS), is a publicly owned entity headquartered in the United States. Founded in 1971 as Houston Community College and later renamed Houston City College by its board in 2025, the institution operates community colleges in Houston, Missouri City, Greater Katy, and Stafford in the U.S. state of Texas. With approximately 5,630 employees, the system actively recruits internationally and enrolled over 5,700 international students in 2015. It maintains open enrollment policies that do not require English proficiency, supporting these students with a full-time 18-month English proficiency program and remedial courses.
