Ideastream Public Media is a privately owned company based in the US. Founded in 2001, it employs approximately 200 individuals, specializing in broadcast media production and distribution.
Ideastream Public Media reported exceptional financial results for fiscal year 2025 and 2026 on March 31, 2026. Major gifts revenue finished 14% over FY24 and 66% over its FY25 goal, while mid-level revenue increased 58% year over year, or 25% when excluding an extraordinary outlier gift, despite broader uncertainties in public media funding. Previously, on January 14, 2026, a new lawsuit against Cleveland State University (CSU) regarding the transfer of the WCSB radio station indicated that Ideastream may need to become involved due to a nondisclosure agreement between the organizations. This followed revelations on November 13, 2025, that discussions between CSU and Ideastream over the student radio station transfer began more than six months before the deal was inked. CSU President Laura Bloomberg and Ideastream Public Media President and CEO Kevin Martin signed a confidentiality and nondisclosure agreement that went into effect on March 17, 2025.
