Indian Broadcasting Foundation is a non-profit organization headquartered in India. Founded in 1999, the organization operates with approximately 10 employees. It functions as an apex organization for television broadcasters in India, primarily involved in media production.
The Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF) and Indian Digital Media Industry Foundation (IDMIF) recently called on the Centre to reset the media tax regime in the upcoming Budget 2026–27, advocating for a Goods and Services Tax (GST) cut, faster refunds, and relief from disputes. This follows their joint appeal on January 20, 2026, where the industry bodies urged the Centre to rework a tax framework in the Union Budget 2026–27, specifically seeking a 5% GST on subscriptions and smoother tax rules, arguing the existing system hinders cash flows, creates disputes, and reduces the sector's investment capacity. Previously, on September 29, 2025, the IBDF convened its 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) where Kevin Vaz reaffirmed television’s resilience, and Avinash Pandey was appointed Secretary General. Pandey's appointment had been confirmed earlier, on August 31, 2025, when he was set to succeed Siddharth Jain, who had served in the role since July 2021.
