Indian Broadcasting Foundation is a non-profit organization headquartered in India. Founded in 1999, the organization operates with approximately 10 employees. It functions as an apex organization for television broadcasters in India, primarily involved in media production.
On June 12, 2026, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) released Draft Telecommunications (Television Radio and Associated Services) Rules 2026 for consultation, an initiative directly relevant to the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation. These rules aim to consolidate and integrate existing guidelines for TV Uplinking/Downlinking, DTH, HITS, Radio, and IPTV under the new Telecommunications Act 2023, replacing the framework of the erstwhile Telegraph Act 1885. The deadline for public response is July 27, 2026. Previously, on January 21, 2026, the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF) and the Indian Digital Media Industry Foundation (IDMIF) jointly urged the Centre to reform the media tax regime for Budget 2026–27, advocating for a Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction, expedited refunds, and relief from disputes.
