International Federation of American Football, also known as IFAF, is a privately owned entity headquartered in Switzerland. Founded in 1998, it operates with approximately 40 employees. The organization focuses on contact sports, unifying international football development across five continents. IFAF became a provisional member of SportAccord in 2003, achieving full SportAccord membership in 2005. In 2013, the federation was granted provisional recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), subsequently becoming a member of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federation (ARISF) in 2014.
