The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) on June 11, 2026, welcomed a proposal from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to expand ski mountaineering's presence at the 2030 Olympic Winter Games in the French Alps. The IOC Executive Board proposed including five ski mountaineering events: men's individual, women's individual, men's sprint, women's sprint, and mixed relay. Previously, on November 27, 2025, the ISMF announced a webinar for individuals involved in team management, athlete preparation, or technical coordination, supporting the pathway to Milano Cortina 2026. Earlier in November 2025, on November 20, the federation announced a partnership with the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, which became one of its Main Partners, aiming to expand ski mountaineering's global reach and highlight Azerbaijan as a winter tourism destination. On November 5, 2025, the ISMF, jointly with the Local Organising Committee, confirmed a race event to be held in Solitude, Utah, on December 6 and 7, 2025. This followed the ISMF's participation in the 2025 IF Forum in Lausanne from October 27-29, 2025, where it joined other Olympic Movement leaders to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration.
