International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) is a state-owned entity based in Switzerland. Founded in 2008, it operates with an estimated 10 employees. Previously, on July 29, the ISMF shared information regarding the application process for hosting the ISMF World Championships 2029. In June, the federation welcomed a proposal by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board to expand ski mountaineering's presence at the 2030 Olympic Winter Games in the French Alps. The IOC proposed including five events: men's individual, women's individual, men's sprint, women's sprint, and mixed relay. Earlier, on November 20, 2025, the ISMF announced a partnership with the Azerbaijan Tourism Board, which became one of the federation’s Main Partners. This collaboration aims to expand ski mountaineering's global reach and highlight Azerbaijan's role as a winter tourism destination.
