Internet and Mobile Association of India, also known as IAMAI, is a privately owned entity headquartered in India. Founded in 2004, the organization operates as a non-profit, with an estimated employee count of 140. It functions as an industry association dedicated to advancing and representing the interests of the internet and mobile ecosystem within India.
The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), alongside other digital industry groups and broadcasters, on June 6, 2026, pushed back against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (Trai) examination of whether internet-based television services should fall under a formal regulatory framework. They warned that broad definitions could subject OTT platforms, social media video services, and news websites with video sections to a broadcast-style licensing framework, despite currently being governed under the Information Technology (IT) Rules 2021 without requiring licenses. Previously, IAMAI announced on May 26 that its 20th annual flagship conference, the India Digital Summit (IDS), is scheduled for January 29-30, 2026, in Bengaluru. Earlier on May 19, IAMAI and consumer intelligence platform VTION released the India Digital Behaviour Report 2025-26, which revealed AI apps grew over 100% in urban India during 2025-26, and UPI transactions reached 241.6 billion, accounting for 84% of retail digital payments. The report also indicated that women in urban India spent 42% more time than men on shopping, OTT, and messaging applications.
