INTERSPORT Group, publicly owned and headquartered in Switzerland, was founded in 1968 and employs approximately 1,900 individuals. It operates as a global sporting goods retailer.
Intersport France plans to open new stores in Spain and Portugal as part of a regional turnaround effort, following Intersport Spain's filing for voluntary administration just over a year ago after struggling in those markets. Previously, on March 30, 2026, Intersport Group announced positive financial results for 2025, reaching EUR 14.1 billion in global sales and demonstrating growth and advancements in strategic priorities. Earlier in March, on the 24th, INTERSPORT Greece, a member of the Fourlis Group, became the Exclusive Merchandising Partner of the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF), strengthening its focus on football. This followed INTERSPORT Austria's acquisition of INTERSPORT Slovenia Group on January 14, 2026, which assumed responsibility for a retail network across eight countries in Southeast Europe, consolidating its market position. The integration of Intersport Spain into Intersport France was strategically announced by Intersport International Corporation (IIC) on November 5, 2025.
