Founded in 1613, this monumental hilltop fortress in Uttar Pradesh serves as a powerful symbol of Indian resistance against British colonial rule. Originally constructed by Orchha ruler Bir Singh Deo, the fort is most famous for its association with Rani Lakshmibai, the "Queen of Jhansi," who led her forces from here during the 1857 Uprising.
