On June 25, 2026, the founder of U.S. tech company SeeDevice stated that false reporting by Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) and its U.S. affiliate KBS America cost him years of research and a significant commercial opportunity, prompting him to seek up to $1.23 billion in damages through a defamation lawsuit. SeeDevice formally filed the defamation lawsuit against KBS and KBS America on June 14, alleging inaccurate reporting on its technology led to lost commercial opportunities and wasted research. This action followed SeeDevice's announcement on June 9 that its defamation lawsuit against the broadcasters would proceed to trial in a U.S. federal court. Previously, on November 17, 2025, SeeDevice Inc. and its CEO Dr. Hoon Kim announced a series of legal victories in their ongoing U.S. defamation and trade libel lawsuit against KBS and its U.S. subsidiary.
