KNME, also known as KNME-TV or New Mexico PBS, is a state-owned media entity headquartered in the US. Jointly owned by the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools, it operates as a PBS member television station in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1958, the company employs approximately 50 individuals, with its main product being media production. KNME-TV (channel 5), branded New Mexico PBS or NM PBS, functions as a PBS member television station. It is a sister station to Santa Fe–licensed KNMD-TV (channel 5), with the two stations sharing studios on UNM's North Campus on University Boulevard Northeast in Albuquerque. KNME-TV's transmitter is located atop Sandia Crest.
New Mexico PBS will welcome Phil Hoffman as its new CEO and general manager starting April 1, following a national search. Hoffman, currently assistant dean of Media and general manager for Ball State PBS and Indiana Public Radio, will succeed longtime general manager and CEO Franz Joachim. He will inherit a budget landscape stabilized by state intervention. Previously, on October 16, 2025, Heartland Video Systems completed the configuration of New Mexico PBS's encoding system, integrating live Artificial Intelligence (AI) language translation for the station’s ATSC 3.0 OTA broadcast signal.
