Nagravision, a Kudelski Group company, and MediaTek Inc. announced a partnership to launch a next-generation digital rights management (DRM) solution on September 12, 2025. This collaboration provides an on-device security solution enabling renewable content protection and eliminating factory-level credential management risks. The partnership aims to enhance security for streaming services, particularly live sports, by introducing an on-device protection model allowing secure credential provisioning and renewal. This replaces traditional factory-level credential management, considered increasingly vulnerable. The new hardware-based security solution reduces reliance on Trusted Execution Environments, enabling service providers to dynamically manage credentials and support premium licensing requirements. The collaboration seeks to establish a new standard in next-generation DRM, offering robust content protection and improved trust for digital entertainment.
