LaCie, a privately owned computer hardware manufacturer founded in 1989 and headquartered in the US, is a subsidiary of Seagate Technology. Employing approximately 130 people as of 2023, the company focuses on designing data storage solutions targeted at professional users, including photographers, videographers, and audio professionals.
LaCie launched the Rugged SSD4, a new portable SSD featuring a USB4 interface, enabling read and write speeds of up to 4000MB/s and 3800MB/s respectively. This follows news that Seagate Technology, a hard disk drive manufacturer, experienced an 11.8% share price rally by 1:54 p.m. ET on Friday. This increase was attributed to positive data regarding demand for edge storage due to a surge in artificial intelligence inferencing, resulting in several analyst upgrades. Separately, Seagate announced plans to invest 15.3 billion baht (S$635.5 million) in Thailand over the next five years.
