Langston University, also known as LU, is a Publicly Owned institution headquartered in the US. Founded in 1897, and operating with approximately 740 employees, the institution functions as a public, land-grant, historically black university (HBCU) based in Langston, Oklahoma. Its main campus in Langston is situated in a rural setting 10 miles (16 km) east of Guthrie. The university also maintains an urban mission with centers in Tulsa, co-located with the OSU-Tulsa facility, and in Oklahoma City. Langston University is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and was named a Carnegie Research College and University in March 2025.
