Lechia Gdansk S.A., a privately owned company headquartered in Poland, was founded in 1945 and operates with an estimated 70 employees, reporting $9.9M in revenue as of 2024. The company functions as a Polish football club based in Gdańsk, competing in the I liga as of the 2026–27 season. The club was established by individuals expelled from Lwów, who were supporters of Poland's oldest football team, Lechia Lwów, founded in 1903. Its name derives from Lechia, a poetic name for Poland, continuing the nomenclature used by the Lwów-based club. In its initial years, Lechia achieved success, including a third-place finish in the Polish top division, followed by decades in the second and third tiers. During the early 1980s, Lechia secured the Polish Cup, the Polish Super Cup, and participated in a European competition. After two mergers in the 1990s, the club restarted from the sixth tier in 2001. It was promoted to the Ekstraklasa in May 2008, with its most recent achievements occurring in 2019, when it finished third in the league and again won both the Polish Cup and the Super Cup, before experiencing relegation to I liga in 2023.
