Lehman College, a state-owned public college in New York City, was founded in 1931 as a branch of Hunter College. Gaining independence in 1967, it was named after Herbert H. Lehman. As a senior college within the City University of New York (CUNY) system, Lehman College employs approximately 2,270 people and offers over 90 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
