Liberty University, also known as LU or Liberty, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1971, it operates as a private evangelical Christian university.
On June 24, 2026, Dr. Edwin Powell, a Liberty University alumnus with a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling, is leading security efforts as Special Advisor to the Ministry of National Security in the Federation of St. Kitts, focusing on combating illegal drugs, weapons, and trafficking. Earlier the same day, Liberty University renewed its longtime partnership with Sodexo through a new 10-year agreement to enhance campus dining, hospitality, and event experiences while supporting the university's growth. Previously, on June 23, Liberty announced it would host its sixth annual CEO Summit from October 7-9, inviting an extensive network of business and government leaders to promote one of the largest Christian business networks. Also on June 23, Liberty Law student Christen Capobianco was selected for the Christian Legal Society's Law School Fellows program. Earlier that day, alumnus Josh Hetzler, head of the Founding Freedoms Law Center, was recognized for championing religious freedoms and the rights of Virginians.
