Liberty University, also known as LU or Liberty, is a non-profit organization headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1971, it operates as a private evangelical Christian university.
Liberty University senior international relations student William Daniels completed an immersive Chinese language-learning program in Taiwan last summer, receiving the Critical Language Scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Earlier on October 8, the U.S. Department of War announced Liberty University is among a select group of higher education institutions being considered for America’s Corps of Cadets, a newly launched federal program designed to develop officers grounded in the Constitution, Western civilization, American heritage, and the warrior ethos. On October 7, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis served as a keynote speaker at Liberty University’s 2026 CEO Summit, encouraging business executives, students, and staff to hold fast to their convictions. Previously, on October 7, Liberty University School of Nursing professor Dr. Stacy Taylor taught Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification to staff at The Luke Commission, a Christian nonprofit healthcare organization in Eswatini, over eight days in July.
